How this Book Came About.
The interest in writing this book was never from the aspect of using seaweed for skin care. In fact my skin, seldom, if ever, had seen a moisturizer or a body lotion in its entire life. Now I understand why, it was because I had never found anything which I could put on my skin that felt good - until now.
This book began after publishing the first book called ‘The Seaweed Jelly-Diet Cookbook Guide’, which was about the discoveries while experimenting with seaweed as food. In which I continually found myself with several batches of seaweed being prepared, and nothing to do with them.
One day, after being at the beach I got sun burnt badly on the chest, and was trying to find a way to apply apple-cider vinegar, to relieve the pain and assist with the healing. Instead of soaking paper towels and laying them on the chest, I decided to mix apple-cider vinegar with some of the clear seaweed jelly that was being prepared. It was such a relief, that the Seaweed Beauty Guide began to emerge.
I then started to add the seaweed jelly to other skin care products, and was impressed with the improved moisturizing effects. I tried other treatments such as the clay facial, a treatment that can be very messy and extremely drying. Amazingly, the seaweed not only held the clay together, but also added a rich moisturizing effect, something I had not ever experienced in conjunction with clay - it was incredible!
As I refined the seaweed recipes, the odor became more tolerable, and the consistency more creamy, and it could then be worn throughout the day without being noticed. This expanded its uses into applications such as the herbal treatments, which required it to be not only protective and moisturizing, but also invisible.
Many times while writing the book I got discouraged thinking this book did not really say anything new, and then I would discover another use, like the Baby -Powder Deodorant, so simple, yet effective, and I would continue. The only thing that might be new is the fact that I am not going to make a seaweed moisturizer, add chemicals, and sell it to you for a thousand dollars an ounce. Instead, anyone, rich or poor, can now have the finest beauty products that nature can provide.
I hope you enjoy the simplicity of these techniques, and are able to carry them forward by adding your own combinations to make your own luxurious skin-care products. Then one day you might even want to try eating Seaweed, as described in the Seaweed Jelly-Diet Cookbook Guide. Remember, you only have to ‘try it’ to believe.
